The collection of songs that make up The Trade were written over a period of about two years. While writing the songs I didn't have a specific theme in mind, but as they took shape I realized they all worked pretty well together. The songs are a snapshot of my journey so far, and while each one is personal to me I believe there are several truths and themes that run throughout that anyone can resonate with on some level. The song Ashley Gorge takes it's name from the place where I was baptized in New Zealand years ago. The exchange that happens when we surrender our lives to Christ is the focus behind the EP title. Though it's called The Trade, it is by no means a fair trade. In exchange for our weakness, He gives us strength, for our darkness we get His light, and what is dead He brings to life.
